It is a study by Shalom Adler-Rudel (1894-1975) of the conditions for the Jewish refugees called Ostjuden duirng the period of 1880-1940.

Included is a foreword by Siegfried Moses.

Description
   "Ostjuden are Jews from Russia and Russian Poland who moved to Germany during the closing decades of the nineteenth century, and mostly involuntarily, during World War I and aroused in the postwar era public controversy and rabid antisemitism quite disproportionate to their relatively small number." " The Ostjuden had originally fled Czarist Russia to escape persecution, poor economic conditions and military conscription."
