Detailed Description |
|
R. Benno Gottschalk was the Rabbi of the New Reform Synagogue of Berlin. He is also the author of Der jüdische Jugendgottesdienst nach Theorie und Praxis (1915), Methodische Fragen des jüdischen Religions-Unterrichts (1917), Gebete, Gedichte und Ausschnitte (1930), and others. In 1866 the New Synagogue, of Berlinīs pioneer reform community, was inaugurated with over 3000 seats in the presence of the nationīs elite. The building is an architectural gem and it survived Crystallnacht only to be destroyed during an Allied bombing raid, later rebuilt by the East German government in the 80īs. |
