Description		    Extensive collection of letters, documents, and responsa, novellae, and drafts from, to, between, and concerning a large number of Moroccan Hakhamim on a variety of subjects. Among the signatories are R. Mordecai Bedugo and R. Jacob Berdugo, both from the family name of distinguished rabbis in Morocco, chiefly in Meknes, who, according to tradition, was of Davidic descent through the exilarch Bustanai. A letter to R. Mattathias Serero, R. Avner Israel Zarfati and R. Raphael Ibn Zur. R. Serero belonged to a family of Spanish scholars who settled in Fez after the Expulsion, bringing their considerable library with them and that provided Fez with dayyanim for several centuries. There is a eulogy for the wife of R. Jacob Berdugo; a draft of a letter from the hakhamim of Morocco sent to R. Nathan Amram discussing the estate of R. Moses Sitris, dated Adar 1866; and two pages on the arrangement of verse. Included is an assessment of property for Mariam bat Shem Tov Agulis who went to the huppa in 1851, signed by R. Habib Toledono and R. Raphael ibn Zur. Also Loshon Lemmudim, selections transcribed by R. Hayyim Toledono, letters from the gaon R. Yabez, some copied, others in the hand of R. Raphael Bedugo. A responsum, unsealed, apparently from a member of the Bedugo family, and novellae on the Bible. There is the text of two gets, one dated 25 Sivan 1879, the other 4 Iyyar 1879, both from Meknes. This is merely a sample of the documents to be found in this large, varied, and extensive collection of manuscripts.
