Comprehensive multi-part Sephardic rite siddur for the the entire year compiled by R. Solomon Hayyim Perlow of the hasidic dynasty of Koidanov. In addition to the prayers, in the well known arrangement of R. Jacob ben Jacob Moses Lorbeerbaum of Lissa with his commentary Derekh Hayyim, this prayer-book includes R. Perlow’s Kohelet Shelomo, pertinent halakhic novellae printed parallel with Derekh Hayyim and Pirkei Avot with the commentary Ma’aseh Avot, based on the works of several leading rabbis and Hassidic admorim, and vidii as arranged by R. Aaron of Karlin.
R. Solomon Hayyim Perlow (1797–1862) was the founder of the hassidic dynasty in Koidanovo, which was a branch of the Karlin trend of Hasidism and the continuation of Lachowicze Hasidism. R. Perlow was a grandson of the zaddikim R. Asher of Stolin and R. Mordecai of Lachowicze (Lyakhovichi); he was educated in the former's home. R. Solomon Hayyim apparently first served as a rabbi in Stolin and Turov in Polesye province. On the death of his uncle the zaddik R. Noah of Lachowicze in 1832, R. Solomon Hayyim was chosen by many of Noah's followers as admor and took up residence in Koidanovo. His influence spread to the northern part of Polesye and beyond into Belorussia (Minsk). Although it is reported that he left no written works the title page of this prayer-book records him as the author of Kohelet Shelomo. The Koidanov prayer book Or ha-Yashar, published after his death (1877; 19032, 19283), contains a special supplement relating the customs of R. Solomon Hayyim and details about his life. During his life the kolel Koidanov was founded in Erez Israel, in Tiberias.
