Detailed
Description
Judeo-German-English constitution and by-laws of the First Pomorzaner Sick B. A. The index of the articles enumerates thirteen items, that is, name, object, and language; meetings; nominations and officers; duties and powers of officers; committees, admission to membership; dues; duties and privileges of members; fines; parliamentary procedure; miscellaneous provisions; William Roth old age fund; and ratification of the Constitution. A list of the officers follows, beginning with the ex-president, Morris Kahane, the president, Philip Roth, vice-president, Benjamin Steinberg, other officers, trustees, marshals, and a list if eleven ex-presidents, including both Morris Kahan and Philip Roth. The verso states that the constitution is dedicated to the deceased ex-presidents who strived with all their heart and strength to make this organization successful, William Roth and Meyer Nobler. The first article has four clauses, stating the name of the organization, that the duration of the society shall be perpetual, that its purpose shall be mutual aid, and that all business shall be conducted in the Jewish, English or German languages. Among the reasons for fines is non-attendance by officers at meetings and members revealing secrets about the society’s business, enering and leaving when a meeting is isn session without giving the sign of the society. Fines range from 25 cents to five dollars.
