Description		    First edition of the discourses on the Torah and a commentery on Avot by R. Zev Zevi (Herman) ben Zechariah Klein. There are Hebrew and German title pages. The former states that it is Hokhmah im Nahalah in two parts. The first part is Hokhmat Avot, which is the book Devrei ben Zech., which includes novellae and explanations according to the peshat and aggadah, and pure insights on the Torah. The second part is Nahalat Avot, which is novellae and explanations on tractate Avot according to the peshat and aggadah. The author, the young R. Zev Zevi ben Zechariah Klein is av bet din in Eisenstadt. The German title page Chochmoh im Nachloh; Wissen und Tradition is followed by the introduction and a dedication to R. Solomon Zalman Breuer (1850-1926), av bet din and rosh mesivta in Frankfort a. Main. The text follows, set in a single column in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words. There are 125 discourses on the weekly parsha and festivals and one additional discourse entitled gargerim. The second part, on Avot, has a full dedication page, to Ezriel Leib ha-Kohen Klein and to Zevi Kramer. The volume has been rebound with its original wrappers. The end papers between the cover and wrappers is an official receipt form in German dated June 14, 1914.
