Description		    Discourses and novellae by R. Abraham ben David Korkidi (1813-85). The author, who served as rav in various location in Turkey and died in Jaffe in Erez Israel, writes on the title page that this book, “was my portion of all my labor” (Ecclesiastes 2:10) “that I have cherished and brought up” (Job 2:22). He writes that all will see and mock him, but that his intent was for the sake of Heaven, in order that “my lips murmur” (cf. Song of Songs 7:10) “I will abide in your tent for ever” (Psalms 62:5), for I am aged. Therefore “I made haste, and did not delay” (Psalms 119:60). He names and thanks his four sons, Hayyim Moses, David, Joseph, and Nissim, who helped him with the publication. The title page is dated with the verse, “and I am now old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsakenâí æ÷ðúé åìà (5642 = 1882)” (Psalms 37:25). The verso of the title page has an approbation from R. Hayyim Palache, which is followed by the text, set intwo columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words. The first discourses are eulogies, then on marriage and other subjects. Likkutim are on the weekly Torah reading and biblical books. The volume concludes with zionim on the Rambam (40b-61a) and an index.
