Jubilee volume of "Haint" a Yiddish periodical issued in Warsaw to report and fight for Jewish causes. Its thirty years history may be divided into three distinct periods: the first, from the time of the paper's foundation until World War I; the second, the years of the War, and lastly, the years between the two World Wars.
In the initial period of its existence, Haint laid the foundations of a modern Jewish newspaper. Various sections were introduced which had previously been neglected in the Jewish press, or about which the Yiddish or Hebrew newspaper-reader did not know. Considerable space was allotted to reports from near and far, from Warsaw and from the provinces as well as from far-flung Jewish communities throughout the world.
During the years of the first World War, the paper underwent a crisis on account of the general situation which was difficult from both the political and economic points of view and under the conditions of the Russian regime. During the period of the German occupation of Poland, the paper succeeded in delineating a proper stand towards the problems arising as a result of reigning conditions.
The third period, which was the last in the paper's history, was one of prosperity. Haint achieved the standing of being the recognized spokesman of Polish Jewry.
