Part I on the laws of the Sabbath was printed in Jerusalem in 1913 to enlighten the earth on hilkhot Shabbat according to the Shulhan of the Beit Yosef, primarily in Judeo-Arabic with Hebrew, all in Hebrew letters. The title page adds that it is with poskim, rishonim and ahronim (early and later sages), translated into the Arabic language, spoken in our land, Morocco, so that the reader may speedily utilize it, whether sage, simple, or doesn’t know to inquire, all from the table of Maran (R. Joseph Karo), “instruction of wisdom” (Proverbs 1:3) to arouse those who slumber. It begins with reasons for those who love commentaries on Shabbat, sweet dainties, the time of sunset, morning, for every Jew who has to know the time to recite Shema, to light Shabbat candles, etc. The verso of the title page has a vignette of the Western Wall, followed by approbations from R. יאודה ן' מוייאל and R. Jacob bar Isaac bar Abraham ha-Kohen, both ס"ט (Sephardi Tahor). There is also a full page approbation from R. Jacob Joseph אפריאט סל"ט. Next is the author’s introduction concluding with a vignette of the tomb of R. Meir ba’al ja-Nes, a second introduction from R. Meir Korkus, and the text in two columns in square letters. In addition to the discourses and laws of Shabbat there is also a commentary on the book of Esther, an index of the contents, concludes with four pages of charts for determining times.
