On the names to be used in gets (bills of divorce) and related issues by R. Aaron ben Meir Gordon. This work, in two parts, is presented by the author as an addition and completion to an earlier work of his, Even Meir (1912) which dealt with halitza (dissolving the bonds related to leverite marriage). The title page informs that Milu’at Even is in two parts, entitled Even Yisrael and Even Bohen. Even Yisrael explains what R. Gordon found in the responsa literature of later sages (ahronim) on the names of men and their fathers. Even Bohen explains the laws dealing with Gittin and agency, and here too what R. Gordon found in the responsa literature of later sages. It includes material that was not brought in the encyclopedic Sde’ Hemed. R. Gordon remarks that the too has not fulfilled his obligation for there remain many responsa, in the hundreds, that he has not had the merit to see although he has done all that was in his power to do. Nevertheless he has brought al that he has seen and that is necessary for this subject. At the time he wrote this work R. Gordon was alreqdy resident in New York. The verso of the title page has errata, followed by R. Gordon’s introduction and the text, set in a single column in square letters.
R. Aaron ben Meir Gordon (1845-1922) emigrated to the United States in 1890. He was also the author of the above mentioned Even Meir, Minhat Aharon on Sephardic names in gets (New York, 1918), and Sha’are Da’at on Yoreh De’ah (Jerusalem, 1921).
