Detailed
Description
Rabbinic journal published from 1923 through 1939. This volume has four issues: 1, 2-3 of 5696; 1-4 of 5697; 1-2 of 5698. The title page has the subtitle, “from that well they watered the flocks” (Genesis 29:2). Ha-Be’er is described as essays, novellae, and glosses in the manner of pardes, pilpul, parable, and interpretation on the Bible and the sayings of our rabbis. There are homilies on every Shabbat in the year, for every festival, and every subject pertaining to our lives. These discourses are from rabbis, gedolim, geonim, and the righteous and sages of our generation from all our generation from all five parts of the world. Also from those sages who have departed from us, to arouse the “sleepers lips” (Song of Songs 7:10). It further states that it is to be published four times a year under the editorship of R. Zevi Hirsch Friedling ben Dov Beryl, author of Raz ke-Zevi and Kiyum ha-Olam. In keeping with the journals name there is a device on the title page of a well surrounded by sheep and above the well is a banner furled over it with the verse, “from that well they watered the flocks.” At the bottom of the page is publishing information in Hungarian, referring to the journal as Habajer.
