Description |

This association was organized in 1838. The statutes of the organization clearly show the objectives--that skilled trades should be promoted for the Jews...that following the emanicipation there should be a comprehensive occupational regrouping of the Jews. This proved unrealisitic as the Jews to a large extent remained in the same economic sectors as before the emancipation.
Another factor was anti-semitism--that the Jews should not be seen as engaging in unproductive activities. |
