Detailed
Description		    Concise halakhot for Jewish children by R. Nathan ben Naphtali ha-Levi Eschwege. The books purpose is to instruct girls so that they may keep the way of the Lord and do righteousness and justice. The author, R. Eschwege, is described as a teacher in Eschwege. The bottom half of the title page is in German, decribing the book as “Religionsbuch fuer juedische Knaben.” Da’at Yehudit is dedicated by the author to his parents, R. Naphtali ben Shimon and marat Lear bat Asher. There is an approbation from R. Seligman Froman and below in German from Rabbiner Dr. Plato. A table of contents follows, which includes sixteen general topics on prayer, pure thoughts and deeds, the prohibition of work on Shabbat, preparation for Shabbat, the laws of festivals. Additional sections are on fasting, and included are sections on tefillin and zizit. The introduction is in Yiddish, but the text of Da’at Yehudit is in square letters in a single column. Da’at Yehudit concludes with a section on fear of the Lord and fulfilling the mizvot.

R. Eschwege was also the author of Der Kommentar des Immanuel ben Salomon zum Hohenlliede. (Wort- und Satzexegese); ein Beitrag zur Geschichte der mittelalterlichen Bibelezegese. Nach einer Hanschrift der Kgl;. Hof- u. Staatsbibliothek in Munchen, verglichen mit Handschrift 117 der Kgl. Universitsbibliothek in Berlin (Frankfort, 1908).
