Letter by R. Joshua David b. Shalom Powarski (1902-1999) Rosh Yeshiva in Ponovich. The letter written at the height of the Holocaust to the U.S. seeks assistance for victims. R. Powarski was born in Lyuban and came to Erez Israel in 1941 shortly after this letter was posted. An erudite talmudic scholar he wrote Yeshu'ot David (several volumes) halakhic novellae and expositions to the Shulhan Arukh. |
