Detailed
Description
Only edition of these discourses by R. Issachar Solomon ben Isaac Teichthal (1885-1945). It is accompanied at the end by Siah Yitzhak, a discourse by R. Isaac Weiss, delivered against those wicked individuals who spoke against the words of Hazal. Tov Yigal includes discourses delivered by R. Teichthal to strengthen faith in Torah at a time in which it was necessary to do so, for, due to the many iniquities of our generation heresy has sprouted among us and many have removed themselves from the yoke of the Torah and mitzvoth, which has caused all the suffering that has come upon us. The mercy of the Lord has enabled R. Teichthal to collect these discourses. One who reads them will find himself with a stronger faith, as with a tent pin that does not slip and all the words of the apikoirsim which have spread in our day will be “like the chaff which the wind drives away” (Psalms 1:4). On the verso of the title page is an statement that the work is actually much larger but R. Teichthal did not have the funds to print more than this. There are approbations from R. Meir Jehiel Levi Halstak and R. Yoshea Booksbaum, the latter of considerable length. There is both an introduction and apologia from the author, a word to the reader, responsa part two of Mishneh Sachir, made up of eighteen responsa, and then the aforementioned Siah Yitzhak.

R. Teichthal, rabbi in Bad Piestany, Czechoslovakia, subsequently av bet din in Budapest, was also the author of Em ha-Banim Semehah an unusually rare book, being printed in central Europe during the war, very few copies surviving. R. Teichtel, who initially opposed the Zionist movement and the resettlement of Jews in Erez Israel, witnessing the horrors of Nazi rule and murder in Europe, and despairing of European Jewry’s future, expresses the belief that the very rejection of Zionism may have played a role God’s permitting the massacre of European Jewry. R. Teichtel was deported to Auschwitz but was murdered on route by Ukrainians in the railway car with him.
