Description		    Comprehensive work on arithmetic and mathematics by Ezekiel Jacob ben Israel Letable (Leteble). This is the second corrected edition with numerous additions. It is intended to instruct Jews in all the details of mathematics according to the most modern theories, done with “good judgment and knowledge” (Psalms 119:66) in a manner that makes it possible for the student to learn with ease and to quickly reach a high level of achievement. There is a second German title page, Leitfaden fuer den Unterricht im Rechnen, a miktav te’udah from Jacob ben Judah Leib Brit. A preface from the author, a table of contents in Hebrew and Cyrillic, Letable’s introduction in which he discusses numbers, including the Hebrew letter equivalences, and then the text. Mivhar ha-Heshbon is an unusually rich text book, with detailed examples on every page, progressing from the simplest arithmetic concepts to involved calculations, including the mathematical determination of the tekufot.
