Detailed
Description
Six pocket calendars with French text and Hebrew dates for the years beginning in 1956 and ending in 1962, excepting 1959/60. The 5717 calendar has Arabic script and was published for the Jewish community of Cairo. Excepting that calendar all of the others have a dedication on the cover but do not name the publisher or printer there. Instead, it appears on the verso of the Hebrew title page after Kippour- Jour du Pardon which is liturgy for Yom Kippur. The arrangement of the text varies somewhat but has alike contents. In the 5722 calendar the title page is followed by, facing pages, Hebrew and French lists of the festivals and their dates and days on which they occur. Then the prayers for lighting the menorah on Hanukkah and ha-Nerot hallu in Hebrew, and the blessings for tefillin in French. Kaddish de Rabbanan is next in Hebrew and then transliterated into French; seer limud ve-tikkun mishmarah in Hebrew; arbah tekufot le-mar Samuel in Hebrew and French; important dates in French from Adam to the Shulhan Arukh; Seder Hanukkah a second time; Bar Yohai; the dates of Rosh Hodesh in French; and then the calendar. On the last text page are Birkhat ha-Torah in Hebrew at the top of the page and transliterated into French below it.
