Description |

Letter by R. Shabbetai b. Solomon Bohbout (1870-1948), Chief Rabbi of Aleppo. R. Shabbetai was born in Jaffa and educated in Jerusalem yeshivot. He served as a member of the Jaffa Bet Din prior to assuming the Chief Rabbi position in Aleppo. In 1924 he was selected to serve as the Chief Rabbi of Beirut where he served until his passing. An erudite scholar and noted orator his sermons and responsa are printed in contemporary works. He was the author of several Halakha works.
