Detailed
Description
The "Ostjuden" are Jews from Russia and Russian Poland who moved to Germany during the closing decades of the nineteenth century and, mostly involuntarily, during World War I. They aroused in the post-war era public controversey and rabid anti-Semitism disproportionate to their relatively small number.
