Description		    Against the practice of masturbation and homosexuality, which the Author states was prevalent in Turkey. The Bible prohibits sodomy and homosexuality (Lev. 18:22), denouncing such acts as "abhorrent" and making them capital offenses (20:13). ,p> Ladino religious literature had its origins in pre-expulsion Spain, it was only in exile, however, that it really developed. The major original translations include the Book of Psalms (Constantinople, 1540); the Pentateuch (Constantinople, 1547); the Prophets (Salonika, 1572); and a complete translation of the Bible by R. Abraham ben Isaac Assa (Constantinople, 1739–45), which became the most popular text among the Sephardi communities of the East.

"ספר מוסר מקראי קודש. מוסר יקר [מאת ר' אפרים חיות] להציל את כל ישראל משליטת היצר הרע... להתרחק מכל מיני עבירות, ומי שיקבל ויקיים את האמור [כאן]... ינצל מכל גזרות קשות ורעות ויזכה להרבה בנים זכרים ושנות חיים אמן". בלאדינו. שם המחבר בהקדמה. שם המתרגם נשמט. החיבור מדבר על קדושת הזיווג ורובו עוסק בהזהרה מפני הוצאת זרע לבטלה ומשכב זכר, שלטענת המחבר היה נפוץ בערי תורכיה. דף ב-ו,א: הקדמת המחבר, ובה נאמר שבדרכו לארץ ישראל שהה כמה חודשים בקושטא. המקור העברי נדפס כשנה לאחר מכן: "מקראי קדש", קושטנדינה תקפ"ט, בדפוס עראב אוגלו. בסוף ההוצאה העברית מודיע המחבר שהשמיט מן ההוצאה בלאדינו כמה חלקים הנוגעים בענייני קבלה ועוד. אותיות רש"י.
