Paragraph 1    Books printed in Mühlhausen are very rare. Only three titles, this being the second, are attributed to that location, and the third is uncertain. The two titles known with certainty were both printed by I. P. Rissler.

Description		    First edition of this ethical work on the dogmas of faith in Judaism by R. Menahem ben Abraham Treves (Dreyfus,. The title page describes it as halakhot derived from the Bible and words of our sages. These are the wells from which we draw, and from which instruction is expounded. It informs that R. Treves was rabbi in Sulzburg. He was a scion of the famous family of that name, which provided a continuous line of scholars, branches of which have been known under the names Treves, Tribas, Dreifuss, Trefouse, and Drifzan. The verso of the ttile page has the disclaimer against confusing contemporary gentiles with those ancient peoples referred to by such terms as nocri and akum. There are approbations from R. Solomon Zev ben Reuben Kalin and R. Raphael Vormaser, the latter in verse. An introduction (mevo, which stands for the initial letters pf the author’s name), and the text, which is in a single column; the basic text at the top of the page is in square letters, the detailed glosses below it in rabbinic type. Orah Mesharim is divided into thirty five thematic chapters covering such topics as fear and love of the L-rd, arrogance, anger, advice, vengeance, joy, reproof, sage, and peace. The volume concludes with errata.
