Tri-lingual, Hebrew, English, and French scholarly publication of the Ben-Zevi Institute. This issue, number three, has articles by Itzhak Ben-Zevi “Research on the Jewish Oriental Communities and the Merging of the Diaspora:” Meir Benayahu “Tasks and Activities: 1957-1960;” Books Planned for Publication, by David Tamar “Safed in the 16th Century,” Zvi Werblowsky “The text of the Maggid Mesharim,” Uriel Heyd “Ottoman Documents on Palestine 1552-1615,” and Zalman Shazar “Ma’ase Sabbatai Zevi.” Excepting Itzhak Ben-Zevi’s article which appears in all three languages there are different articles in each section, the Hebrew section including articles by Cecil roth on forgotten Jewish communities, David Korkus Abulafia on non-Hebrew sources for studying the history of the Jews in Morocco, Jacob Hasson on Hebrew-Ladino dictionaries, and Abraham Hatal on the popular literature of the Jews of Tunis.
The Ben Zvi Institute, under the joint auspices of Yad Ben Zvi and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, studies the cultures of Jews of Moslem lands, Africa and Asia. It is a meeting ground for scholars from all Israel's universities and from abroad.
