A telegram sent to Rabbi S. A. Pardes of Chicago informing him of the details of a forthcoming Agudas Israel Convention to be held January 28-30, 1947 at the Capitol Hotel in New York.The convention was a follow-up to the sixth national convention which was held in Belmar, NJ in September, 1946. The chairman of the convention was R. P. Teitz, rabbi of Elizabeth. Speakers included R. Eliezer Silver, who was to deliver a report of his extensive visit to the Liberation Camps in Germany, followed by his visit to Erez Israel. Main issues to be discussed included Palestine, a campaiagn for new members and a campaign to raise funds to make the Jewish Voice a weekly newspaper. The telegram ends with a request to write a "large article" about the upcoming convention.
Rabbi Samuel Aaron Pardes was the editor of the Hebrew monthly HaPardes, which was published in Chicago beginning in 1927. S. Eichenstein and I. Ferstenberg were editors of the Jewish Voice, a monthly in Hebrew and Yiddish that was published in New York beginning in 1940. |
