Detailed
Description
Yiddish Correspondence manual with dictionary and other support material for the writer by Hirsch Leander. The title page is followed by a table of contents enumerating the forty-six letters comprising the book. The book begins with an alphabetic list of names, first men then women, a list of Hebrew words, followed by a list of Hebrew abbreviations with their meanings. Examples of the letters are letter to a mother-in-law, the rabbiner schule in Vilna, from a grandfather to his grandson about learning, a letter from a businessman, from a teacher to a student, including a list of the government districts in Russia, and one of the capital cities and the countries in which they are located. There is also an entry on how to instruct children in mathematics with examples of addition. The text is in a cursive script. At the end of the book is a fold out illustration of a winged cherub above a bearded sage instructing two small children, all in a circular frame with an animal with antlers at the top.
