Detailed
Description
Publication of the Jewish community of Bombay for the period April 1930 through February 1933, from volume one number two through volume e number 13. The January 1931 issue begins publication under the title the Jewish Advocate, the only Jewish paper in India. It is replete with articles on subjects pertaining not only to Bombay and Indian Jewry, but also addressing world Jewry and even foreign events of interest and importance to its readers on a wide variety of subjects. The later issues have photographs and title pages with text in blue ink. There are numerous advertisements, providing a further insight into Jewish life on the Indian sub-continent. Articles are on biblical subjects, Jewish history, Jewish festivals, messages from rabbis, editorials, correspondence, current events, and obituaries. Topics of local interest, today forgotten but then of concern are addressed in detail. One such example is the Hardon will, $150,000,000 claimed by competing heirs.
