A reader for learning the Yiddish language particularly geared for level 4. The selections include a short biography of an author and selections from his writings. Iosif Ravin ( 1890-1937) is also the author of many other titles, including: Di fir tsaytn fun yohr antologye far kinder fun prebel un elementar shulen (Lodz, 1918), Mayselekh fun der hayes un fegl velt (Warsaw, 1921), Pyesn far dramkrayzn (Minsk, 1925), and others.
V. Shats is listed as the co-author of many other books as well both with Iosif Ravin and with others such as P. Halavach.
The Yiddish follows the Soviet model, final letters are omitted, Hebrew words are spelled with numerous extra letters to satisfy Yiddish pronunciations. |
