   First edition. Frontispiece, quarto, light age staining, wide margins, top edge gilt, illustrated profusely with drawings and photographs. A very good copy bound in the original brown cloth, lettered in gilt, medallion plate on front cover, front pastedown is a map of Boone County Minimal rubbing of top and bottom of spine.

Description
   John Uri Lloyd (19 April 1849—9 April 1936) was an American pharmacist influential in the fields of pharmacognosy, ethnobotany, economic botany, and herbalism. Lloyd would become one of the most important and best-known pharmacists of his period. Over his career he would win the coveted Ebert Prize three times for his original pharmaceutical research reports. He was the second recipient (1920) of the highest award of the American Pharmaceutical Association - the Remington Medal. He served pharmacy in a number of capacities, including educator, author, and APhA president. He also became well known for his novels; the royalties from Etidorhpa, and his other novels provided much of the funding for the Library.
