Description		    Only edition of this philosophical work on the essence of the world, man, and the four basic elements by R. Judah Leib ben Moses of Hamburg. The title page begins that “the cloud scatters lightning” (Job 37:11) and “his lightnings lighten the world” (Psalms 97:4) and his space is filled with knowledge and “out of the brightness that was before him” (Psalms 18:13) “Light rises in the darkness for the upright” (Psalms 112:4). It is the author’s intent to search in concealed places for the source of wisdom. He sends his sparks of lightening into the cords of vanity to remove the arrogance from man with the “the instruction of wisdom” (Proverbs 1:3) to break the teeth of the wicked. This volume described as the first part for the eye to see and the ear to hear, comprised of both essence and good quality. On this lower world of four elements, fire, wind, water, and dust of the earth, how He stretched it over the waters, and the essence of man. The author is descended from R. Solomon Luria and is a resident of Hamburg. There are approbations from R. David ben Leib of the tyhree cities and from R. Jacob ben Abraham Boshen and an introduction in honor of the author by R. Meir ben Israel, an apologia, R. Judah Leib’s introduction, and the text, preceded by a riddle and Sha’ar Zahav Sagur.
