Description
Booklet of twelve illustrated song cards. Each card has a title in the upper right hand corner, verse in vocalized Hebrew, and in the middle bars of musical notes. At the left side of each card is a black and white sketch appropriate to the song. ) Zemirot le-Am was arranged by Menashe Rabbinowitz. The first tune is Rachal al ha-ayin (Rachel by the well, with a drawing of the patriarch Jacob meeting the matriarch Rachel for the first time and giving her the gifts described in the Bible. It is to be sung in Moderato non regato. Other tunes are for motzai Shabbat and the illustration is of a spice box, and cup to be used in the havdala service. It is to be sung in Adagio. There is a song for Hanukkah with a picture of a menorah held aloft by hands, to be sung in risoluto. The song anu banu artza (we are coming to the land) has a drawing of ships and is to be sung con anima. The final tune is Am Yisrael Hai (the Jewish people live) also to be sung con anima. The accompanying illustration is of three people about (supporting a tree, on the right and left young pionmeer types, in the middle what appears to be a Hasid with a streimal.
