Detailed Description |
|
Letter by the rabbinic brothers, R. Solomon Zalman and R. Jacob Asher Anshel b. Israel Ullman (b. 1863) of Grosvardein (Mare Oradea). They were born and lived in Grosvardein and both were pupils of the Shevet Sofer in Pressburg. The brothers were the grand children of R. Solomon Zalman Ullman, rabbi of Makova and author of Yeri'ot Shlomo (Vienna 1854). The brothers reissued the work with extensive notes and commentaries (Vilna 1904). Both passed on at young ages, R. Solomon Zalman at age 41 (24 Nisan 5675), his brother at age 27 (29 Sivan 5668). R. Solomon Zalman served as Rosh Hakahal of Grosvardein for 18 years. Being wealthy and erudite scholars they engaged in torah study at all times. |
