Detailed
Description
A collection of the cantoral masterpieces of the world renowned cantor Efraim Solomon Rozumni. Solomon Rozumni (1866-1904) was one of the famous cantors in Odessa, noted for his capability to improvise recitatives. This collection of his recitatives was edited and arranged by Samuel Alman, musical director of Hampstead and Bayswater Synagogues, London. The title page has a photograph of Oberkantor Rozumni in cantorial garb and wearing a talit. There is an introduction in Yiddish by Alman, followed by Rozumni’s arrangements of traditional songs, beginning with the seder of Kabbalat Shabbat. Shirei Rozumni includes eighty-five compositions, including evening and morning services, Musaf, Hallel, and concluding with Sefiras ha-Omer. Each composition is accompanied by musical bars and the words transliterated into English. At the end is a complete index in Hebrew of the songs and prayers.
