Description
   The Chief Rabbi of the Bet Din for Moroccan Jews inquires of the Assistance Board to help a recent oleh from Alexandria, Egypt.

R. Joseph Hayyim b. Judah ha-Kohen (1851-1921), Chief Judge of the Moroccan Community in Jerusalem. R Kohen was born in Mogador and emigrated to Jerusalem at the age of 15. He led the Tuvei Yisba'u Yeshiva and was a correspondent of responsa with the greatest of his generation. He wrote Minhat Kohen (Jerusalem 1902-10, 2 vol.) novellae on Talmud and halakha, the work carries the approbations of the entire Jerusalem rabbinate.
