Detailed
Description
Eulogy for three geonim, R. Abraham ben Rafael Landau, av bet din, Techukava; R. Jacob ben Aryeh Gutterman of Rodzmin; and R. Elijah ben Solomon Gutterman of Griditz by R. Israel Mordecai ben Zeeb Joseph Tunkelang. It describes the contents as great and bitter mourning for the Aron of God, our rabbis, geonim, righteous and holy, our light, the light of Torah, three mighty shepherds. After the eulogy (14b-16b) is a concise review of the laws of mourning. The title is from “Thus says the Lord; A voice was heard in Ramah (kol be-Rama nishma), lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not” (Jeremiah 31:14). The text is set in a single column in rabbinic type. Kol be-Rama Nishma is not recorded in the Bet Ekad Sefarim nor does it appear in several major Judaica library collections.
