Description		    Introductory pedagogic work for instructing students in Talmud study by R. Jacob ben Mordecai Goldman. The title page describes Gemara le-Mathilim as including four hundred subjects from the Talmud and Midrashim, collected and brought (explained) according to the methodology of the Talmud, from the light to the more difficult. In ach chapter or methodology many exemplars are brought from the Talmud, including in them various concepts, distributed over the width of the sea of the Talmud. It is a valuable work for the development of young boys to accustom them in all the varied paths of the Talmud. The book begins with a quote from Avot “prepare yourself in the lobby so that you may enter the banquet hall” (4:21). There is an introduction directed to teachers and parents, followed by a listing of the number of topics by tractate, a table of contents, a brief introduction, and the text. Gemara le-Mathilim is comprised of eighty-one chapters; the text is in two columns, the outer column the Talmudic text in square vocalized Hebrew through chapter nineteen and then unvocalized, and the inner explanatory column in rabbinic letters.
