|
R. Jacob b. Moses Judah Leib Landau (1893-1986) was appointed rabbi of Bene Brak in 1936 and served until his passing. Born and educated in Kurenets, White Russia into a prestigious Habad family. An erudite scholar with a photographic memory he was appointed rabbi of Kurenets at age 20. The Rogachover officiated at his wedding. He later established a yeshiva in Moscow which attracted many students. He moved to Bene Brak in 1934 and single handedly converted the city from secular to the religious enclave it is today. |
