Description		    Only editions of two independent works, both by R. Joshua Treitel ben Jehiel Fischel. The first title is Hidot Yehoshua, explanations of the Shulhan Arukh Orah Hayyim and Yoreh De’ah with accompanying responsa. The title page of Hidot Yehoshua refers to R. Treitel’s earlier work, Borchi Yehoshua, and notes that he has written other books as well, and informs that it was brought to press by R. Meir Dov of Skarnovirsch. There are approbations from R. Isreal Joshua Trunk, R. Samuel Zinvel Klappish, and R. Meir Jehiel ha-Levi Helstak. R. Treitel’s introduction follows, in which he discusses the difficulties that have befallen him. He had one son, whom he named Jehiel Fischel after his father,a child that was sagacious, feared heaven, but was ill for several years and then passed away. R. Treitel informs that he too became seriously ill but did not cease his studies and wrote Borchi Yehoshua. He has entitled the book Hidot Yehoshua because the numerical value of Hidot חדות (418) equals his late father’s name Fischel פישל (420) when the sum of the words in the title are added in (418 + 2 = 420). The text follows in columns in rabbinic letters.

The second title is Borchi Yehoshua on Erev Hazerot and novellae on tractate Eruvin. It is so named because the first word HaBorchi הברכי (237) is equal to “my father Jehiel ha-Levi my mother Hannah.”
