Description		    Only edition of this work on the virtues and holiness of the city of Tiberius by R. Raphael ben Hayyim Ohana (1850-1902). Tovat Mareh has eleven approbations. Seven from rabbis in Tiberius, four from rabbis from Meknes. R. Ohana was born in Meknes, made aliyah in 1865, at the age of fifteen, together with his grandfather, R. Judah Ohana. His place of death was the holy city of Sefad. R. Ohana began travelling as an emissary of Tiberius towards the end of the nineteenth century, at the age of thirty. Among the places he visited was Bukhara, making him the second emissary from Erez Israel to reach there, preceded only by R. Joseph me-Man for Sefad in 1792. As a result of R. Ohana’s visit the Bukharin community collected money for R. Meir Ba’al ha-Nes of Tiberius. That community praised and esteemed R. Ohana greatly. R. Ohana also traveled to India and Burma (1894) and to Morocco (1897), in the last location, in his birthplace, Meknes, receiving approbations for Tovat Mareh. R. Ohana’s other works include Mareh ha-Yeladim (1900), segulot and refu’ot; Re’ah Ma’asiot (1902), stories and ethics; and several other titles as well.
