Description |

First edition of this bilingual Hebrew-Yiddish versified ethical work by R. Jehiel Michel ben Judah Leib of Kalavara. The title page informs that R. Jehiel Michel was also the author of Derekh ha-Melekh on the Massorah. All who see this Marganita (pearl) will be healed from the sickness of the soul; it contains “honest words” (Job 6:25). Small in size but of great value to remove the serpent coiled around one’s heal. Marganita has an approbation from R. Hanokh Henokh ben Samuel Shick and R. Zevi Hirsch ben Meir. There is an introduction from the author in Hebrew with a Yiddish translation on the verso. The body of the work follows in two columns, the inner unvocalized Hebrew, the outer the Yiddish text. The final page has verso in which the initial letters of each line form an acrostic of Jehiel Michel ben Judah Leib and on the verso an explanation of the verse.
