Detailed
Description
Thorough Hebrew Grammar with Latin text and numerous Hebrew examples by Joanne Bouget. The full title is Grammaticae Hebraeae Rudimenta Ad Usum Collegii Urbani De Propaganda Fide. The title page, which has an attractive press mark, is followed by prefatory material and then a table of contents describing the fourteen chapters comprising the grammar. Grammaticae Hebraeae Rudimenta's purpose, as expressed in the title, is to instruct the beginner in the fundamentals of the Hebrew language. It begins with letters and punctuation, moving on to nouns, pronouns, verbs, and by chapter four, conjugations. Next are further verb forms, more detailed conjugations, and concluding with syntax, prefixes, and forms of punctuation. Initial letters of chapters are historiated and the text is set in a large clear font, making for an attractive book. Grammaticae Hebraeae Rudimenta was successful in achieving its purpose, for the book went through several editions.
