Description
   This program from the First Conference of the World Union for Liberal Judaism, which took place in Berlin from August 18-August 20, 1928 is in both English and German. It includes the inaugural sermon preached by R. Dr. Seligmann at the New Synagogue in Berlin on August 18th and the text of speeches and semons held throughout the conference.The foreword (in German) is by Ismar Elbogen. It includes many addresses by such figures as Montefiore, H.G. Enelow, Hermann Vogelstein, A. Chincholkar (Report of the Religious Union of Bombay), Leo Baeck, David Philipson, Morris Goldenson and Lily Montagu.

The World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) was founded in 1926 as the World Union for Liberal Judaism, in London. Its first international conference took place in 1928 in Berlin. Since 1971 the modern see is in Jerusalem. The WUPJ is today the largest worldwide organization of Judaism, representing 1,200 synagogal communities with 2 million members in 46 countries. It’s president is Steve Bauman (U.S.) and its president is Rabbi Uri Regev (Israel).
