Detailed
Description
Comprehensive Hebrew-German prayer book for the entire year. The title page states in Hebrew that it is Tefillat Yisrael and in German that it is Israelitisches Gebertbuch hebräisch und deutsch. (Jewish prayer book in Hebrew and German). There is a detailed table of contents and then the prayers. The Hebrew is on the right and on the facing page is the German in Fraktur. The Hebrew is in square vocalized letters, except for explanatory notes which are in Vaybertaytsh. The prayers encompass daily prayers, complete Sabbath services, Pirkei Avot, Rosh Hodesh, festivals, Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and Hanukkah services. Among the other features are grace after meals, separation of Hallah, Zadok ha-Din, Sefirat ha-Omer, and Pidyon ha-ben. At the end of the volume, reading from left to right with its own title page, is an appendix entirely in German for women, these include prayers to be recited for ill children and at gravesides.
