Description		    Only edition of these discourses on Bereshit and Shemot by R. Israel Ephraim Fischel Sofer (d. 1898). R. Sofer, one of the very last students of the Hatam Sofer, served for ten years as rabbi in Hajdunanas and for fifty years as av bet din of Nanas. He was a hasid of the Ba’al Yetiv Lev in Sighet and also served as admor with any coming to him for guidance. The title page informs that it was corrected and brought to press by R. Menashen Simhah Friedmann, son-in-law of the author. There are introductions by R. Friedmann and R. Naftali ben Zevi Schreiber, the author’s brother, giving the family’s history, and the author’s zeva’ah, given by R. Shalom of Brezno. The text of Bersishit follows, and then, with a separate title page, that of Shemot, both in two columns in rabbinic lettes.. Part two was not printed on the remaining books of the Torah was not printed until 1911.
