Description		    Extremely rare account of an encounter between the sage R. Ezekiel ben Judah Landau (Noda bi-Yehudah) and R. Jacob Shimshon of שעפעטיווקע. The title page describes it as an awesome and wondrous happening between the two sages and informs that it was brought to press by Ezekiel Klein Sofer. The text begins that at the time that the holy work Toledot Ya’akov Yosef appeared by R. Jacob Joseph of Polonnoye the gaon the Noda bi-Yehudah was opposed to the students of the Ba’al Shem Tov. When he received Toledot Ya’akov Yosef the Noda bi-Yehudah declared that it should be burned. This caused great pain to R. Jacob Joseph who came to R. Jacob Shimshon, a student of his, in a dream, instructing him to journey to Prague and dispute with the Noda bi-Yehudah over Toledot Ya’akov. R. Jacob Shimshon did as told and came to Prague, dressed as one of the poor of the city, with his bundle on his shoulder. Vikuah Rabbah is an account of the encounter between the Noda bi-Yehudah and R. Jacob Shimshon and the outcome. R. Ezekiel ben Judah Landau (Noda bi-Yehudah, 1713–1793) was a leading halakhic authority of the 18th century. Though a student of Kabbalah himself,and well versed in mystic literature, the Noda bi-Yehudah was a decided adversary of Ḥasidism, opposing them for teaching Kabbalah openly.
