The Jerusalem Post’ Sunday 20 November 1977 – The first newspaper report of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s historic visit to Israel (he arrived the night before). The newspaper includes as a centerfold the Jerusalem Post edition published the night before to welcome Sadat to Israel and that was first distributed at Ben Gurion Airport when he arrived. This issue contains exuberant reports of the scenes at Ben Gurion airport as Sadat arrived, and conveys the exhilaration felt by every Israeli at this historic event. |
