R. Jacob ben Pesah Kunitz of Nikolsburg came to Ofen in 1757. He is described as having sat in the tent of Torah, not moving from the daled amos shel halakhah, his mouth not ceasing to learn, as testified by the sage R. Nathan Ginsburg in his approbation. While in Ofen, R. Kunitz wrote three books, all small in size but great value, two printed in the same year. They are Zera Ya’akov and Marbeh Shalom on aggadah at the end of tractate Berakhot. His third work, Sheva yemai Pesah Prague, 1777) is on three azharot.
