Description		    First edition of this important work of Hasidic tales about the founders of the Hasidic movement. The title page describes it as consisting of wondrous and beautiful stories from men of repute, wonder, great zadikkim, their holy conversations, pearls, “sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb” (Psalms 19:11). The gedolim described in Me'orot ha-Gedolim are R. Israel Ba’al Shem Tov, R. Dov Baer (the Maggid) of Mezhirech, T. Levi Isaac of Berdichev, R. Solomon of Karlin, R. Zev of Zhitomir, R. Baruch of Medzebech (grandson of the Ba’al Shem Tov), R. Abraham Joshua Heschel of Apta (author of Ohev Yisrael), R. Asher of Stolin son of R. Aaron of Karlin, R. Israel of Razin, R. Aaron of Karlin (author of Beit Aharon). The text follows in two columns in rabbinic type. It is, as stated on the title page, comprised of numerous wondrous stories and the conversations of the founders of the Hassdic movement. Bound with Me'orot ha-Gedolim are Sefer Hasidim (Warsaw, 1911) of R. Judah he-Hasid and Mekor Hayyim (Lvov, 1912) of history of R. Hayyim Halberstam of Zanz.
