Detailed
Description		    Only edition of these responsa on all four parts of the Shulhan Arukh by R. David ben Jacob Vaaknin (1836-97). The author is described in glowing terms as “the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen.” (II Kings 2:12, 13:14) by his son, who brought Ve-ye-Daber David to press, further noting that he was a rosh av bet din. He has brought these responsa on the four turim, work of the “Sinai and uprooter of mountains” (Berakhot 64a). There are approbations from R. Elijah Yaluz, R. Jacob Hai Zarihen, and R. Hayyim Alhadif of the bet din of Tiberius; R. Abraham Isaac Kook, at the time in Haifa, later to be the first chief rabbi of Israel; and R. Joseph Sonnenfeld. There are separate introductions from R. Jacob Vaaknin, R. Shimon Vaaknin, and R. Meir Vaaknin, sons of the author. The responsa follow, on, as stated, all of the Shulhan Arukh, concluding with the explanation of a riddle brought by the Yismach Moshe, piyyutim in honor of a milah, in honor of Shabbat, and siman Meir Vaaknin; a detailed list of the contents, and errata.
