A fund-raising letter for the Shaarei Chessed Gemiluth Chassadim Haklali in Jerusalem, called "the first and greatest Free Loan Society of Palestine, founded in 1870. [addressed to Mr. N.M. Cohen of Lancaster, Pa. and including a Palestine stamp postmarked March 10, 1943].
The letter is printed on both sides and is written in Yiddish and English. It contains a request for funds for "the remnant of Israel in the Holy Land!" at a time when "the Nazis are making havoc among the Jewish people". It includes a report on the activities of the society, including how much money was allocated to 1) loans granted for the building of the Shaarei Chessed Quarter, 2) loans gransted for the building fund scheme "Keren Habinyan and 3) funds allocated for cheap foodstuffs for Rabbis called "Mazon-Bezol".
Also included is A section called Statutes of Membership which is a detailed listing of "what the society is doing for its members" , i.e. learning Mishnayoth after the member's death, recitation of Kaddish, observing the Yartzeit, etc.
