Detailed
Description
Previously unpublished collection of letters from R. Israel ben Eliezer (Ba’al Shem Tov), founder of the Hasidic movement. The title page states that these letters have never before been published and that they were previously held in private collections. It furter informs that the letters from the Ba’al Shem Tov were transcribed. letter by letter signed by his holy hand from the collection of the admor of Hussitin, and that a copy printed at the end of the book Porat Yosef was incomplete, lacking important material due to the censor. It is here printed in its totality. The letters from the Ba’al Shem Tov’s talmididm were never printed previously and were also inthe collections of admorim. There is a letter from R. Israel ben Mordecai Feibushe, admor of Hussitin, and then the letters. min ha-Ba’al Shem Tov ve-Talmedov is comprised of nine letters of various length, from such important early Hassidic leaders as R. Hayyim ben Solomon of Horedenka to his brother R. Moses of Kitov; R. Ephraim of Sodilikov (Degel Ephraim); R. Abraham Joshua Heschel of Apt; and others. This volume should not be confused with a similar work, with the same title, also printed in 1923, in Warsaw.
