R. Judah Zevi Hirsch ben Moses Eichenstein of Rodzol (1791-1848) was the son of R. Moses of Sambor and a student of his uncle, R. Zevi Hirsch, whose daughter he married. A great sage, R. Judah Zevi Hirsch revised that part of Yoreh De’ah dealing with dietary laws seventy times. He was known for the manner in which he prayed, and hassidim came from afar to listen to him. R. Judah Zevi Hirsch was particularly close to R. Zevi Hirsch of Liska. He had three daughters but no sons. His son-in-law, R. Ezekiel Shraga published Da’at Kedoshim. R. Judah Zevi Hirsch’s other works are Ta’alumot Hokhmah on Midrash Rabbah (Kolomyja, 1889).
